Hands-on Workshop on Biotechnology for Beginners

This week-long workshop included lectures and wet-labs specifically designed to give beginners a hands-on experience in a biotechnology laboratory. Participants  extracted genomic and plasmid DNA, performed restriction digestion, Agarose gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, gene cloning, and learnt the theory and practice of PCR technology. The workshop was organized by Dr. Kabi R. Neupane at Leeward Community College. Lectures and laboratories are adapted from ABE Summer Workshop. Financial support for this workshop was provided by the University of Hawai‘i Statewide Agriculture Education and Agribusiness Incubation Consortium Project.
