Protocols

Our goal is to disseminate the techniques and results from the proposed research by developing on-line resources, educational materials and training experiences especially geared towards smaller colleges with little or no research programs.

A vital component of our mission is to incorporate and disseminate the developed technologies with learning experiences that will inspire faculty and students from small colleges lacking research programs. We will also develop on-line media for the scientific results, biological materials and teaching resources created. Faculty will receive certificates of professional development, while students will receive course credit.

Hands-on computer projects will reinforce concepts, enhance interest and prepare students for lab
exercises. Faculty will provide feedback on the use of the material in their classes and will select
students to participate in the program. In the subsequent three summers, selected students will
be invited to participate with faculty mentors and receive hands-on training. Participants will
evaluate the workshops and suggest improvements. Faculty may also take back to their college a
small research project related to PDI.

Please go to the Protocol page for detailed protocols used during the workshop.
